Immersion at the Orphéon Jazz Club by Diptyque

This publication is also available in: Français Deutsch Italiano Español English (US)

On the occasion of the release of the Orphéon Eau de Toilette by Diptyque, the house invites us to immerse ourselves in the eponymous jazz club that inspired the creation of the fragrance in 2021, and today, its new variation. A space carefully imagined, celebrating music and creativity, where you can discover this new scented bouquet while being lulled by the selection of vinyl records offered.

Diptyque’s Present Inspired by the Past of Saint-Germain-des-Près

Unveiled in 2021, the Orphéon fragrance from Diptyque is more than just a scent. Indeed, its bottle contains the atmosphere and memories of a place dear to the three founders of the house: the Orphéon jazz club.

An important venue in the musical scene of the 60s, and neighbor to the first Diptyque store at 34 Boulevard Saint Germain, this bar was a place for reunions and exchanges at the end of the day. A vibrant landmark where music, discussions, dancing, and games took place in a cozy and smoky atmosphere.

Having purchased the address after its closure to expand its shop in the 5th arrondissement, the brand wanted to perpetuate the legacy of this jazz club by composing a fragrance bouquet that recalls the evenings held there and the emotions associated with them.

Combining cedar with tonka bean, juniper berry, and jasmine, the Orphéon fragrance from Diptyque unfolds with character and revives the scents that intertwined in this club.

Available in a solid format, a gel, a body lotion, a hand cream, as well as a hair mist, the original scent has inspired a new one, just revealed.

Furthermore, originally contained in a blue bottle reminiscent of the interior of the Orphéon jazz club, the fragrance has been given a makeover for this occasion, adopting a smoky glass for this new scented chapter. And we still find, as a signature on the back of the label, the silhouettes of the three founders of the Diptyque house.

The Orphéon Eau de Toilette by Diptyque Enriches the Storytelling of the Range

While the initial composition of the eau de parfum took us where the night was in full swing, the Orphéon Eau de Toilette by Diptyque accompanies us at the beginning of the evening.

With green mandarin replacing the tonka bean and jasmine, the fragrance reveals itself with a note of pep that is both fresh and dynamic.

Enriching the storytelling of the Orphéon range by Diptyque, this new composition ideally complements the signature fragrance and creates a beautiful combination of scents to evolve throughout the day.

The Orphéon Listening Station by Diptyque Revives the Jazz Club in Its Own Way

On the occasion of the launch of its Orphéon Eau de Toilette, Diptyque has transformed the ephemeral corner of its flagship store into a listening station.

This corner, dedicated to art, reveals itself as a celebration of jazz and creativity. Decorated with a large neon sign and a minimalist design spirit incorporating silhouettes of instruments, the Orphéon range of Diptyque unfolds in a carefully arranged decor, blending past and modernity.

Thought up in collaboration with Superfly Records, we discover a selection of vinyl records that offers a journey through jazz, from the 60s to today, combining French, English, US, and South African influences.

Various writings and books also accompany the dive into this universe, not far from a set of dice, placed for those who might be tempted to play a game.

The Diptyque house thus brings the Orphéon jazz club back to life through this installation, as well as through a playlist available on Spotify and a collector’s vinyl (which can be personalized during workshops).

Additionally, an exceptional collaboration with ColorsxStudios and Ezra Collective took place, during which the group reinterpreted one of its iconic tracks “Enter the Jungle.” Celebrating the vibrant atmosphere of jazz clubs, this creative exchange was also an opportunity to question the language between scents and melodies.

Discover the Diptyque Flagship

As you pass by 7 rue Duphot, we can only recommend that you explore the rest of the address which has been decorated with elegance and refinement. Being the flagship of the house, the store is the largest in Europe and thus allows you to discover the entire creative palette of Diptyque.

We particularly appreciate the different atmospheres created by artists and architects, who offer us an immersive visit. Between a living room showcasing various home fragrances, a bathroom corner with the most creative woodwork, a small green nook dedicated to refillable formats, and a delightful winter garden… The boutique, with its refined details (like the wrought iron work of the staircase) is a space celebrating creation and art in the broadest sense.

The listening station is presented until March 30 at 7 rue Duphot, while its London version, at the New Bond Street store, will close its doors on April 20.

Moreover, if you wish to learn more about the house, we talked a few months ago about the creation of the Diptyque Foundation aimed at supporting biodiversity and the related know-how.
