In the midst of the fashion show season, one event seems to eclipse them all. From March 1st to April 2nd, the storefronts of the capital’s grand boulevards are adorned with poetry and blooming moments, for “Les obsessions Jacquemus”. With 16 windows, 3 XXL corners, and a flower cafe, the Jacquemus event at Galeries Lafayette underscores, once again, the creator’s inventiveness, who continually seeks to meet his fervent admirers by offering unique moments, radiating his gentle and sunny universe, like a postcard filled with nostalgia. Discovering an installation in ode to creation.
The customer experience in the era of Simon Porte Jacquemus
Although the creator does not have a physical store, his creativity offers us enchanted interludes to encounter his universe. As we highlighted last year, Jacquemus shows are always eagerly awaited, as they enchant us with the poetry that takes hold, and the imagination that guides the models’ steps through scenographies in ode to nature, rethinking it, and playing with its elements.
From a field of lavender to a salt quarry, moving through a fine spray of raffia, or transporting us to a summer day in a wheat field, Simon Porte Jacquemus immerses us in his reverie at every moment, creating emotion through the elements, all in elegance and simplicity.
Scenographies praised for his shows that come in echo to his occasional installations, cherishing and strengthening the connection with his clientele. Although he does not have an address, the man with the Provençal aura, comes to design timeless events, to create closeness while being creative. A way to stand out, and to rethink the customer experience.
The beginnings of the Jacquemus event at Galeries Lafayette
After his pop-up store selling flowers in Montmartre, his 24/7 vending machine, Le bonbon, traveling from Paris to Milan, his giant bathroom “Le bleu Jacquemus” taking part in the iconic Selfridge in London, it’s now at Galeries Lafayette that the prodigy of beige tones and nostalgic patterns spreads his creativity in an immersive installation. A new collaboration between the creator and these department stores, where he had already let his personality and inventiveness take part in two food addresses in the Galeries Lafayette on the Champs Élysées, with the Citron café and the Oursin restaurant. A table art also highlighted in collaborations with ceramists like Daphné Léon.
After the achievement of opening his pop-up store at 58 rue Montaigne at the end of 2022, where we can enjoy popcorn while hesitating between the Bambino and the Chiquito, Galeries Lafayette gave carte blanche to Simon Porte Jacquemus to radiate his universe and his story through windows and corners, throughout the month of March. But also, the installation of a flower cafe, for two weeks, to warm the heart before the arrival of spring.
Of course, we could not miss this moment, and we went there from the launch, where we even got to meet the creator navigating between a giant Bambino and XXL branded toast. On our way to the visit.
The Jacquemus event at Galeries Lafayette stands out as unique, with an invitation to spread butter on a branded toast. At Jacquemus, every detail is meticulously thought out, to offer us a total immersion in his universe, and we gladly dive in.
Coffee break amid tulips at the Jacquemus event at Galeries Lafayette
Wednesday, March 1st, 2023: while fashion enthusiasts try to make their way to one of the many coveted catwalks of Paris Fashion Week, my personal quest leads me towards the capital’s main arteries. 10 AM, watch in hand, I spot from afar a large branded cube facing the entrance, as soothing as the decor of the Papier runway show. Beside it, staff members all dressed in beige, no doubt, I have arrived at the Jacquemus event at Galeries Lafayette.
Once on the other side of this mysterious cube, a haven of softness and poetry is revealed to us, with bouquets of white tulips, subtly aligned, heralding the upcoming spring and blending with the gentle scents of coffee. Florists and baristas share this background, all in a minimalist design, so intrinsic to Jacquemus’ DNA, which here creates a scene as captivating as one of his runway shows.
I save the coffee for later, heading now to the windows. The Jacquemus signed banners, brushed by the cool breeze of this morning, guide us along the way. We encounter on our stroll windows blending into artistic canvases. The artichoke hat greets us in an XXL version, while a branded glass spins in memory of last summer and its grenadines by the beach, signature pieces drying in the wind, revealing the shadows of first emotions. We relive the installations, campaigns, and runway shows of the creator, from the 24/7 vending machine to the Jacquemouse laundromat, from Raphia to his unforgettable runway in the lavender fields.
The windows form a journey back in time, with chapters that have accompanied the couturier’s creations and the writing of his story. All in a clean style, full of character as we love.
When the Jacquemus event at Galeries Lafayette thinks big
Once past the doors, the Jacquemus event at Galeries Lafayette, transports us through 3 corners. One, with a giant toaster from which a branded toast emerges. A bit further, still in the women’s section, we find ourselves face to face with a giant Bambino, which we would gladly take as decor in our interior. Within its lair, the range of Jacquemus bags is revealed, making us dream, one as much as the other, along a curve as captivating as the path through the wheat fields of his show “L’amour”.
On the men’s side, we discover a pile of towels dizzying us like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, set in a giant laundromat scenography, presenting pieces with paisley patterns and gradients.
Wandering through the aisles, I find myself once again face to face with the Bambino, now welcoming the arrival of Simon Porte Jacquemus, surrounded by a horde of journalists, come to capture this moment forever. The couturier sails between the installations, before our enchanted eyes, we discover the creator facing his creations, with a privileged feeling of witnessing a new step in the radiance of the Jacquemus brand.
Jacquemus and flowers
To continue the morning on this beautiful note at the Jacquemus event at Galeries Lafayette, I head towards the flower cafe. 2 years after his ephemeral boutique Les fleurs, it’s a joy to rediscover this delicate touch and this blend of different universes, so unique to Simon Porte Jacquemus. On the drinks side, we find espresso at €2.50, cappuccino, latte, chai latte, and tea at €4.50 and hot chocolate at €5.
On the bouquet side, offered at €35, there are 15 white tulips tied in branded paper, and secured with a Jacquemus ribbon as a final touch. A delicate bouquet, which warms the heart after an hour spent queuing in the cold. Being at the launch, with the press visiting, this might explain the wait, but still plan to have some time ahead.
The Jacquemus event at Galeries Lafayette is meticulously detailed, from coffee cups and small towels, to biscuits for waiting, as well as the small cardboard sleeve to slip our ticket into.
As usual, Simon Porte Jacquemus dazzles us with his creations and installations, rich in their originality, all in simplicity and authenticity, and which perfectly reflect his personality. Whether we are attached to the brand, or not familiar with the universe of his creations, the Jacquemus event at Galeries Lafayette allows anyone to discover all its aura and sunny atmosphere.
The Jacquemus event at Galeries Lafayette is like a suspended moment where creativity is celebrated, and we rediscover the pieces through a different lens.
