The Best Alternative Pieces from Season 4 of Emily in Paris: A Lesson in French Style

The fourth season of Emily in Paris has finally arrived, bringing with it a new dose of glamour, love triangles, and of course, fashion lessons. The series is known for its bold and colorful looks, and this season does not disappoint. Between the outfits for Parisian soirées and an escape to Giverny, Emily once again offers us a true style lesson. More than just a glimpse of her most striking outfits this season, I would like to share with you alternative fashion pieces that resemble Emily’s wardrobe, more affordable and easier to wear every day.

1/ The total lime green brat summer outfits

We talked about the brat summer trend that has taken social media by storm recently, and the lime green season is still relevant right from the first scene of season 4 of the series. Emily mixes her lime green outfit from Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini  with a pink Jacquemus top and baby shoes for a vibrant look that catches all the attention. Mindy wears the Dea Mules sandals by Francesca Bellavita and a PatBo Jasmin dress.

To embrace the lime green color of the brat trend without twisting your ankle on the cobblestones, I suggest, instead of Mindy’s heels, lime sandals from Rino that are more minimalist but just as pretty. Like Emily, we adopt this original pink mini-top from Jacquemus.

2/ The black and white costume dress

The original dress is a creation by Harris Reed, artistic director of Nina Ricci, referencing the dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in the film “My Fair Lady” (1964). While it is incredibly beautiful and dramatic, it is also nearly impossible to wear, even at a masquerade ball.

That’s why I suggest two alternatives that are just as dramatic but easier to wear: a long dress from Toteme that somewhat resembles Sylvie’s dress at the ball, and the graphic striped dress from Balmain with an emphasis on the neckline featuring spiral patterns.

3/ The royal blue suit for visiting Monet’s house

While searching for Camille, Emily arrives at the home of painter Claude Monet in Giverny. She wears a three-piece royal blue suit that contrasts with the soft, floral colors of the garden. With her Pierre Hardy  bag in hand, she walks around the property in a scene that will lead her straight into the pond!

Wearing a suit as a woman can be a real challenge. You want to look chic but not stiff, and for that, I recommend leaning towards a softer blue with this tweed set from Sandro. To accessorize a suit, focus on the accessories, like here with a silver bag that instantly adds a modern touch to the look. A second alternative that I love is the suit jumpsuit with a corset neckline and oversized electric blue pants from Nasty Gal.

4/ The monochrome outfit that garnered a lot of attention

What could be better than a total look? Nothing, especially in yellow. It’s far from being the most extravagant outfit in the show, but it has certainly caused quite a stir.

Analysis: the skirt is from Isabel Marant, paired with a blouse from By Malene Birger. The leather jacket is designed by the Parisian house Possery. The centerpiece is undoubtedly the quilted fringe handbag from Silvia Tcherassi.

I have selected two more affordable alternatives for you to the Possery jacket that Emily wears in the series. The first is a trench coat with a large collar from Levi’s, perfect for keeping your spirits up on rainy days, and the second is an oversized suit jacket in the same yellow as Emily’s from Pinko.

5/ The Crocs and the Monet sweatshirt

Back in Paris, Emily and Camille brought back souvenirs from Monet’s house… and a pair of Crocs. The Crocs worn by Camille in the series are a collaboration Crocs x Simone Rocha.

If, like Camille, you are an art lover, you will love this sweater inspired by a painting titled Bras de Seine près de Giverny dating back to 1897 by Claude Monet from his series of Mornings. We contrast the softness of art with more pop culture shoes, the famous platform Crocs.
