Le Bon Marché X le Mignonisme: The Must-See Exhibition

Do you like pink and curiosities of all kinds? Then you’re going to love Mignonism. And it’s happening at Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche starting from February 26th.
Singer, songwriter, but also actor and illustrator in his spare time, Philippe Katerine is now wearing his creator-philosopher hat to present his latest fantasy: Mignonism. An exhibition is dedicated to it and it’s happening at Le Bon Marché.
Seeing life in pink with Philippe Katerine
It was during the lockdown that Philippe Katerine, a multidisciplinary artist, gave birth to Mignonism, an artistic movement as beautiful as it is experimental. “I started to look at what I no longer really saw, the very small things of everyday life, and then I started to make assemblages, drawings.”
The confinement infuses him with a new creative wind. And as if to fight against the prevailing gloom, he starts sketching, taking photographs, but also manipulating pink objects that have nothing in common, because pink is synonymous with passion for our wandering soul.
Ultimately, Mignonism pays tribute to beauty, wonder, and the love of the little things in everyday life. It is a conceptual movement that is halfway between art, poetry, and philosophy. It is found everywhere, as much in the tiny as in the monumental, like the giant pink figure, the emblematic figure of Mignonism.
Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, the playground of Mignonism
From February 12th to April 24th, a most astonishing exhibition is taking place at Le Bon Marché: Exhibition X. The goal? Breaking the codes by bringing together pairs of brands that originally have nothing in common. These surprising associations give rise to collaborations that are as wacky as they are avant-garde, such as Pataugas x Atelier Paulin, Scholl X Eres, or Baccarat X Pokémon.
And it is in this universe where antagonism is honored that the favorite department store of Parisians opens its doors to the most eccentric of French artists, Philippe Katerine.
From February 26th to April 24th, Le Bon Marché becomes an exhibition venue where the most unique and conceptual creations of the founding father of Mignonism will be displayed. For this, Philippe Katerine had a carte blanche; bubble gum sculptures, plastic creations, pink figure, introspective drawings… You can find everything there, but above all, cuteness.
In response to the Exhibition X, the artist’s works are the result of an assemblage of objects that are opposites.
And what would an exhibition be without a little goodie as a bonus? Some pieces signed by Philippe Katerine’s label will be available for sale: a bucket hat and a printed jacket, wallpaper, a hoodie, a phone case, or even the figurine of Mr. Pink. Nothing better to bring a little fantasy home.
