Mental Health: 5 Tools to Improve Your Daily Life

This publication is also available in: Français Deutsch Italiano Español English (US)

Mental health is at the heart of concerns, ours, but also of celebrities who are not spared from stress, anxiety, and workload management. Adele, Kendall Jenner, Lady Gaga have battled with repeated anxiety crises. Not to forget Selena Gomez who, by talking about her depression, helped to free speech.

The good news is that it is possible to find emotional balance and inner peace with very simple tools that you can use on a daily basis.

Free and quick, they help to relieve stress quickly and in the long term.

In this article, I share my favorite tools for feeling better, hoping they will be of great help to you!

1/ Cardiac coherence that benefits both mental and physical health

The tool that saved my life this year when I felt like I was holding my breath all day long! This year, I was fortunate to work, I became a mother for the second time, I implemented several personal development tools (including self-hypnosis, I talk about it here) and therapy to find the right balance between personal and family life.

Although everything worked well, after a few months, I realized I was doing things automatically without enjoying them, and I had this unpleasant feeling of always being underwater.

My therapist advised me to practice cardiac coherence first once a day and then to increase to twice and then three times after a week. Every day, in the morning, after lunch, and in the evening before going to bed, I take five minutes of calm with earphones and an app. This time for myself has changed my life and is a practice I recommend if you tend to stress easily.

2/ Meditation

The star of practices to take control of your mental health! Mental clarity, stress reduction, becoming calmer, meditation even has effects on health such as improving sleep and strengthening the immune system.

Whether you dedicate five or twenty minutes a day, the benefits of meditation are numerous and have long been proven by the scientific community.

It’s not always easy to find time for oneself when juggling family life, social life, work, and daily worries, yet a few minutes of meditation a day can completely change your life by bringing serenity.

Here’s what I do when I don’t have time to meditate: in the morning and at night in my bed, I take deep breaths while thinking of an intention for the day in the morning and at night, I consciously recall the day that has just passed.

3/ Positive affirmations

The first foundation for taking control of your mental health, self-esteem is paramount and it can also be developed with easy-to-use tools like positive affirmations.

Simply put, it involves reading a sentence, listening to a series of positive affirmations on Spotify, or writing a positive sentence that will do you good.

Personally, every morning, I listen to positive affirmations in a podcast while repeating them in my head. I know, at first it was a bit strange and I only half believed what I was telling myself. When working on self-confidence, one can feel a bit like an impostor, but after a while, it becomes more natural and you regain self-confidence.
