Orange lamp or paper lamp: trends not to miss

While many media outlets have questioned the presence of fashion trends this summer, in terms of interior decoration, we have seen several best-sellers. Indeed, Instagram has shifted its focus from looks and other aesthetics in its algorithm to highlight – pun intended – several light fixtures that have recently ignited passions. From the living room to the bedroom, warm and orange tones have slipped in through design and retro silhouettes. It is a fact, more than ever, the lamp becomes the centerpiece of our decor.

The lamp: more than ever the centerpiece of your interior

It’s a fact, after striped bed linens, light fixtures have become the new accessories to adopt to elevate your interior decoration, but also your mood!

Design for all budgets

While designer lamps have often been out of budget (hello Pipistrello), in recent months, much more accessible models have been highlighted. This explains the success of the trend!

Indeed, leading this vibrant movement is an accent lamp starting at around twenty euros (FADO – IKEA). This attractive price also explains why decor enthusiasts can afford to place them throughout their home to transform it into a cozy cocoon. Whether as a bedside lamp, ceiling light, wall sconce, or placed on a coffee table, the designer lamp reveals itself as a true piece of art, in addition to providing its light contribution.

Retro notes in your interior

The first commonality among the various light fixtures flooding Instagram Reels: their retro silhouette. Here, rounded lines are a must! Spherical models, half-bubbles, or even shapes resembling glowing donuts (VARMBLIXT – IKEA, 2023) are making a comeback and promise a true journey back in time. (We’re just a hair away from pulling out our lava lamp).

Additionally, besides these models inspired by the 70s, we find an essential from the early 2000s, namely: the rice paper ceiling lamp. Yes, it is back. But be careful, here, no green color or New York prints on it. In 2025, we choose it in white or cream to embrace Scandinavian influences and slow living. Nevertheless, while its color is meant to be discreet, when it comes to size, we aim for XXL to make it the centerpiece of a bedroom or living room.

Alongside the traditional paper sphere, we find similar hanging models, featuring more or less flattened shapes. And for those with larger budgets, the work of Isamu Noguchi continues to delight design lovers, with the Akari 24N or 25N (+ €2,000) being particularly sought after for their interiors.

The power of light

The second commonality of these lamps is the hue and warmth of their light. Because yes, in addition to adding a polished touch to a room, a lamp creates a certain ambiance. Recently, a relaxed and cozy atmosphere is what people are looking for.

As a result, warm lights, ranging from warm yellows to intense oranges, are preferred. In addition to adding a cozy aspect to your interior, these lighting hues directly affect your well-being and mood. Regulating your system, they help calm you and are also beneficial for aiding sleep. Thus, dimmable lamps and models mimicking sunrise and sunset are highly appreciated for bringing an organic touch to the lighting.

And considering we are entering – already – that time of year when days are slowly getting shorter, our little finger tells us that these light fixtures will continue to dominate our interiors in the months to come… Start your search for your future lamp on Modalova now!
