Pop-up JW Anderson x Galeries Lafayette, the elegant craftsmanship

This publication is also available in: Français Deutsch Italiano Español English (US)

For three weeks, craftsmanship and leather goods are honored in a sweet cocoon, which is none other than the JW Anderson x Galeries Lafayette pop-up. The Loafer bag is presented here in all its forms, alongside other creations and collaborations unveiled for this new creative chapter signed by Jonathan Anderson. It’s an opportunity to rediscover the brand’s signature bag and other accessories, which we have fallen in love with!

The new creative and artisanal chapter of Jonathan Anderson

In the image of his new chapter as artistic director of Dior, Jonathan Anderson has also made his entrance with newness on the side of his eponymous brand, JW Anderson.

A rebranding that has piqued our curiosity since July, combining new packaging details, an enchanting responsive design website, and above all, the revelation of a fascinating new collection. More than ever, the Irish creator explores his creativity, his vision of fashion, daily life, and craftsmanship. We discover a harmony of pieces that bring us back to nature, to the art of living, and to gathering together. And on our side, we are charmed!

Craftsmanship as the creative engine of Jonathan Anderson

Whether within his eponymous brand, during his twelve years at LOEWE, or more recently, with his beginnings at Dior, the main characteristic of Jonathan Anderson’s creativity is that it stems from a deep love for craftsmanship, its traditions, gestures, and methods passed down through time and cultures. A passion that translates both in his pieces and in the creation in 2016 of the LOEWE Foundation Craft Prize, which has helped to highlight the work of many artists.

Moreover, this love for craftsmanship is inseparable from emotions and storytelling for the creator. Whether through visuals or olfactory worlds he has crafted in the past, each piece carries with it a story and a heritage, which is what gives them such a unique aura.

This new chapter of JW Anderson reflects more than ever the very essence of its creator’s creativity. Consequently, ready-to-wear, tableware, art pieces, furniture, and even gardening tools coexist harmoniously, in the most beautiful synergy. The collaborations are at the heart of the collection, particularly with mugs co-created with WEDGWOOD and six chairs crafted by Jason Mosseri (HOPESPRINGS). And you have the opportunity to admire one at the JW Anderson x Galeries Lafayette pop-up!

The Loafer bag in all its forms at the JW Anderson x Galeries Lafayette pop-up

For three weeks, the JW Anderson x Galeries Lafayette pop-up shines a light on the Loafer bag in all its formats. Its recognizable silhouette, blending originality and tradition, is presented here in small, medium, and large sizes, guaranteed to charm us. Its precise cut, punctuated by meticulous sewing work, conveys a timeless and comforting energy that we never tire of observing.

Inspired by the traditional cut of loafers, the construction work of the Loafer bag is remarkable and combines noble materials with meticulous finishing work. We particularly appreciate the external seams that provide an elegant and charming visual relief. Made in Italy in a color palette ranging from black to browns to fir green, the bag is available in both tanned leather and suede. (and we also find it in denim on the website).

To add a charming detail, the Loafer bag can be adorned with a charming bag charm that is absolutely adorable. From crocheted birds to insects and leather carnivorous plants… We melt in front of these creations! (Other models, including incredible little knitted sweaters, can be found upstairs).

Designed as a continuation of the brand’s corner, located on the designer floor, the JW Anderson x Galeries Lafayette pop-up presents itself as a cocoon of softness, both graphic, elegant, and calming. The design of the space, combining wood, iron, and felt material, is tastefully complemented by a touch of orange color – reminiscent of the new pouches, as well as small vintage-style tags.

Thus, we have discovered a charming pop-up where we were also able to meet other equally passionate people about the work and values of Jonathan Anderson, which warms the heart!

You have 2 weeks left to discover this corner and fall for the Loafer bag!
