After a shopping spree at Prada and an upcoming reissue of the iconic Moon Shoe this weekend by Nike x Jacquemus, it’s a fact: soft sneakers are back! Aiming for finesse and minimalism, this shoe, closely hugging our foot, is set to become the star of our autumn. Whether for running or shopping, this pair will charm on every occasion with its vintage flair and, above all, its colors that will brighten up the rainy days ahead!
Hello finesse and vintage spirit with soft sneakers
For several months, we’ve seen finesse taking over our shoes. After the rise of ballerinas in urban wardrobes, it’s now our sneakers that are leaving behind their bulky or platform soles. Indeed, a return to the essentials seems to resonate with sportswear enthusiasts with the comeback of soft sneakers.
On one hand, the foot is closer to the ground with soles no thicker than 2 cm. On the other hand, the fabrics and components of the shoe aim for minimalism to wrap the foot closely, without too much fuss. We are thus witnessing a comeback of soft sneakers with silhouettes reminiscent of the running shoes from the 70s or those associated with football and automobiles. Understand that this sudden 360° turn indicates that the return of Buffalo, sparked by the nostalgia of the Y2K style, is no longer particularly relevant… Here, we keep the vintage vibe, but with grace and flexibility!
Prada Collapse Re-Nylon soft sneakers: the stars of the season?
After the glory days of the Samba, here’s the new pair of sneakers to adopt to stay on trend: the Prada Collapse Re-Nylon soft sneakers!
Worn by Harry Styles in a trendy yellow version, the Prada sneakers from the S/S 2025 collection have become, following some stolen snapshots, the new it-piece of autumn for that athletic and trendy look. With their vintage silhouette perfectly hugging the foot, they will add a fun retro touch to your outfits, whether for your morning jog or strolling around town.

In addition to using soft materials to best conform to the foot, the pair features a pleated ankle contour to ensure good support. A detail that reminds us of another pair…
Jacquemus x Nike: the event revival of the Moon Shoe
Here’s a pair of sneakers that will surely give some cold sweats to the soft Prada sneakers… Presented last January and about to hit the market, the new collaboration between Jacquemus and Nike stands out as one of the most coveted. Because yes, this is not a new creation set to be released, but a modernized reissue of the iconic Moon Shoe from the Swoosh brand. Having marked the history of the American brand and that of sneakers, one must go back in time to understand the excitement generated by this pair of shoes.
The Moon Shoe, whose full name is the Nike Waffle Racing Flat Moon Shoe, is one of Nike’s first creations and was designed to fit American athletes during the 1972 Olympic Games. Aiming to improve performance through a perfect balance of lightness, grip, and functionality, the Moon Shoe unveiled itself as a feat of innovation, particularly through its sole design.
The sole, with a texture reminiscent of the footprints left by American astronauts on the Moon (Moon), also resembles the shape of a waffle. And this is not by chance. Indeed, Nike co-founder Bowerman used his wife’s waffle iron to design this new sole technology and give it the properties he was looking for. This is why it includes “waffle” in its name.

These soft sneakers have also entered history due to their rarity. Produced in very few copies, the Moon Shoe has become, over the years, a coveted object. So much so that one of the pairs was sold in 2019 by Sotheby’s for a total of $437,500 = €392,350 when it was estimated at $110,000 – $160,000.
Following several celebrated collaborations between Jacquemus and Nike, this new release comes to merge couture and history. While the shoe retains its signature silhouette, Simon Porte Jacquemus has added a couture touch to its finishes. This reflects a mutual respect between the two entities to allow their respective histories and DNA to coexist.

The pair of soft sneakers will be available in three colors: a bright red, a midnight blue, and a pop of pale yellow, perfectly matching the season’s hues!
To be discovered in stores from September 28 and the following day online.
