This spring, it’s more important than ever to slip on your blazers and other three-piece suits. Indeed, with the reign of officewear in SS25 collections and the dress code “Tailored for you” at the Met Gala 2025, the art of tailoring is back in the spotlight. And, much more than just a style, it brings us power and presence. Let’s explore how to adopt the Soft Power Suiting!
What is Soft Power Suiting?
Borrowed from economics, the idea of Soft Power now enters fashion language. Initially used to describe the power and influence of a country on the rest of the world through its (pop) culture, Soft Power Suiting emphasizes the impact and image reflected by your wardrobe. More specifically, through the wearing of a suit.

In two or three pieces, or in a layering version ++, the suit conveys an image that is both strong and respected. Adding presence to the silhouette, whether in a refined or effortless style, it is no longer worn exclusively at work but at any time of the day to elevate our aura!
How does Soft Power Suiting translate into the 2025 silhouette?
In 2025, Soft Power Suiting asserts itself through a reinterpretation of the suit, combining the tradition of its cut with vintage or modern notes. More feminine than ever, it is also more powerful than it has ever been.
For many years, designers have reappropriated the cut of this piece, initially considered masculine, to adjust it to our silhouette. Over time, this garment has become a symbol of a strong, independent, successful woman with a confident stride.

Soft Power Suiting continues to highlight the empowerment of women in 2025, balancing femininity with strength of character. For this spring, 2 or 3 pieces are worn in an effortless version, revealing silhouettes either with a defined waist or looser cuts (echoing the return of baggy).
We also see suits with bolder and more creative lines, partly featuring prominent and graphic shoulders (Saint Laurent, Jacquemus, Stella McCartney). Meanwhile, tailored pants make room for skirts, shorts, or hybrids like skrousers and one-leg pants. Think of bottoms that have an open part or combine two pieces (skirt + pants).

The Trend of Soft Power Suiting at the Heart of Met Gala 2025
There’s no better place than the blue floral carpet of the Met Gala 2025 to illustrate the idea of Soft Power Suiting. With a dress code of “Tailored for you,” this new edition challenged designers on the legacy of the black dandy figure and, consequently, on the codes of the suit. And we must say, the outfits presented this year completely charmed us.
We particularly appreciated the attention to detail, lines, and colors paying homage to this history and its visual codes. The maintenance of a traditional side, but revisited with taste and respect, gave rise to elegant and polished outfits (except for 2-3 misses) that perfectly highlighted the theme of the evening (unlike in previous years). More than ever, the creations were strong in message and beautifully illustrated the idea of Soft Power Suiting.
Met Gala 2025: A Lesson in Style and Tailoring
Outfits were revealed in shades of black, gray, red, or midnight blue – classic yet impactful. Or in pastel tones, bringing a touch of freshness, like Lupita Nyong’o’s Chanel ensemble. Polka dots and stripes also enhanced many pieces, such as Priyanka Chopra’s attire. All while coordinating with other plays of transparency.
Silhouettes with a defined waist were in abundance, featuring elegant and streamlined looks like Zendaya’s, or more vintage styles, as seen with Monica Barbaro. We also note several uses of layering that created beautiful surprises. Notably with Colman Domingo and Damson Idris. For the former, a suit was revealed beneath a majestic cape. And for the latter, beneath a Formula 1 driver’s suit.
Between feathers, pearls, and other brooches, these reinterpretations of tailoring predominantly showcased silhouettes respecting tradition while enhancing them with a touch of modernity through well-thought-out details.
The Blazer: The Emblem of Soft Power
Among the essentials to adopt for imposing Soft Power Suiting, we count the blazer jacket. Here are some models to find on Modalova:
